Road closed after chemical spill

Hazard identification methods may need to be evaluated after an incident in the US saw a road closed following a chemical spill.

According to a report by the Tucson Citizen in Arizona, 59th Avenue at Cactus Road in Glendale was shut down by officials as a result of a collision between three vehicles.

The accident caused chemicals to leak into the road and emergency procedures meant it was shut down while officials dealt with the spillage.

Fire department spokesman Matt Young told the news provider that no people were hurt in the incident and described it as minor.

Crews will determine whether or not there is a need for additional help at the site from clean-up officials, it was added by Mr Young.

This comes shortly after dozens of people were taken to hospital for treatment after a chemical leak thought to have been caused by the Zhenjiang Sopo Chemical Industry New Development in the Jianbi township in China, the Asia News Network reported.
